Strengthening Regional Leadership: EXCO Members Re-Elected and Elected to Serve NACIWA

Abuja, Nigeria – October 15, 2025

The Network of Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa (NACIWA) has reaffirmed its commitment to continuity and stability in regional governance with the re-election of key Executive Committee (EXCO) members during its 7th Annual General Assembly (AGA) held in Abuja, Nigeria.

Continuity of leadership is vital for regional cooperation and institutional stability. By re-electing experienced leaders, NACIWA ensures that long-term strategies are pursued consistently, institutional memory is preserved, and collaborative efforts among member states remain strong.

Re-Elected Leaders

  • Mr. Ola Olukoyede, Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigeria – re-elected as President of NACIWA.
  • Mrs. Zoe Kormah Alex, Chairperson Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) – re-elected as Vice President of NACIWA.
  • Mr Abba Kimelabalou,President Haute Autorité de Prevention et de Lutte contre la Corruption et les Infractions Assimilées (HAPLUCIA)-re-elected Secretary General of NACIWA.
  • Mr. Joao da Cruz Silva, President Corruption Prevention Council (CPC), Cape Verde – elected as Treasurer of NACIWA.

Their re-election reflects the confidence of member institutions in their dedication, integrity, and proven track record of service. This renewed mandate underscores the collective commitment to regional solidarity and the shared vision of a corruption-free West Africa.

EXCO Mandate the EXCO plays a pivotal role in NACIWA’s governance framework. Its responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic guidance to the network’s programs and initiatives.
  • Exercising oversight to ensure accountability and transparency in operations.
  • Championing regional coordination by harmonizing anti-corruption policies and practices across member states.
  • Representing NACIWA in regional and international platforms to strengthen partnerships and advocacy.

Secretariat Support the Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the re-elected EXCO members. Its role will focus on:

  • Facilitating implementation of EXCO decisions and strategic plans.
  • Enhancing communication among member institutions to ensure timely information-sharing.
  • Coordinating regional activities, workshops, and joint initiatives to strengthen collective action.
  • Providing technical and administrative support to sustain momentum in anti-corruption efforts.
